Sally Tuttle – Solo Art Exhibition

Light Space & Time Online Art Gallery is very pleased to announce that Sally Tuttle has been selected as one of the four artists of the gallery’s second “Solo Art Series” Art Competition.  Sally will have a month long solo art exhibition and will be featured on the gallery’s front page, as well as in the “Solo Art Series” archive.

Sally Tuttle lives in the Monterey area of California, where she is an award-winning non-objective painter and mixed media artist.   Sally will be promoted by the gallery with an extensive public relations campaign, as well through the gallery’s extensive social media network.  In addition, Sally will be featured on the gallery’s YouTube channel, with an event catalogue and with an event postcard.

The “Solo Art Series” is a series of monthly solo art exhibitions for established artists who have a body of work to present to the public.  Artist participants were asked to submit the following 3 components for the “Solo Art Series” competition; 1.  Their art.  2.  Their artist biography.  3.  Their artist statement.  These elements were evaluated and judged, which resulted in the selection of the artists who will be featured in individual month long solo art exhibitions.  This is the second “Solo Art Series” Art Competition the gallery has conducted.

Below is Sally’s Artist’s Biography, her Artist’s Statement, along with 25 of Sally’s images from her "Fragments Series".  We hope that you will take the time to read Sally’s information and to take a look at her incredible abstract artworks.

Artist Biography:

Sally Tuttle is an artist living and working in the Monterey area of California. Sally’s current body of work represents her work with non-objective painting and combined media collage, using fragments of drawings and hand painted papers to create compositions she loves the accidental building nature of this type of work.

Sally considers her current work to be influenced by her admiration of the American Abstraction Expressionists from the 1950’s. Sally received her BA in interior design with a focus on furniture design from Cornish Institute in Seattle. Soon after graduation Sally started painting and continued painting off and on while working with clients on various interior design projects. During these years, painting was done “as time permits” and Sally discovered that if you paint when time permits sometimes you do not paint at all.

In 2004, Sally took a painting workshop for inspiration and motivation and Sally has been painting regularly ever since.

Artist Statement:

The reason I paint is really just to paint, I love the process of painting. In the process of painting, I get to make something and then maybe if I am very lucky I get to spend time suspended in the moment. As I work I look forward to the opportunity to step in and out of the moment to gently move the process along.

For me painting is a process of practices and routines that allow wonderful accidents to happen – all the parts contribute to the end result. I derive a great joy out of making things, it is simply delightful - while I am painting I am a maker.

My work is only about the work seen by the viewer – I am the maker making, the viewer is the viewer viewing and that’s all there is. I want nothing more than to offer the viewer a moment to be free to view the work on their own terms – nothing to figure out or understand.
