Marti White - Solo Art Exhibition

Light Space & Time Online Art Gallery is very pleased to announce that Marti White has been selected as one of the four artists of the gallery’s recent tenth “Solo Art Series” Art Competition.  Marti will now have a month-long solo art exhibition and she will be featured on the gallery’s front page, in the Gallery’s YouTube Channel, as well as in the “Solo Art Series” archive.

Marti White is a professional artist based in Tucson Arizona and she specializes in creating mixed media/collage art.  It is Marti’s desire when creating art to express what lies within her soul.  Marti’s creative expression usually results from feelings of conflict or contentment.  Marti will now be promoted by the gallery with an extensive public relations campaign.

This solo exhibition will distribute, promote and circulate press releases to over 550+ major News Outlets, Premium FOX, CBS, NBC, and Affiliated Sites, with guaranteed inclusion on Google News & Bing News and social media distribution through LST gallery’s broad social media network.

In addition, as part of her award package, Marti will now be featured as a Light Space & Time – Artwork Archive promoted artist.   Marti’s art will also be featured on the gallery’s YouTube Channel and with an event postcard.

The “Solo Art Series” is a series of monthly solo art exhibitions for established artists who have a body of work to present to the public.  Artist participants were asked to submit the following 3 components for the “Solo Art Series” competition; 1.  Their art.  2.  Their artist biography.  3.  Their artist statement.  These elements were evaluated and judged, which resulted in the selection of the artists who will be featured in individual month-long solo art exhibitions.  This was the tenth “Solo Art Series” Art Competition that the gallery has conducted.

Below is Marti’s Artist Biography, her Artist Statement, along with 25 of her mixed media collage paintings.  We hope that you will take the time to read Marti’s information and to take a look at her unique and expressive mixed media paintings.

Artist Biography:

Marti White uses several mediums, but the art form that has most influenced her work and for which she is best known is mixed media/collage. This method and the style that she has developed was learned during a workshop with Gerald Brommer. His approach to building a piece has remained a key ingredient in the evolution of her art. Open spaces that draw the eye into and through a work are kept, and basic design elements are used to build the bones of the collage. The final use of line and color and the application of a series of small dots finish a piece. These key elements have established the style that sets her apart.

The artist is also fascinated with the way art can tell multiple stories. Each viewer sees what speaks to their own individual place in life and the artist is privileged to be able to allow that kind of visual journey through the work. Josh Goldberg, one of her mentors in abstract expression, said that a work of art is not completed until it has been viewed. She is most rewarded by seeing the viewer connect to that personal interpretation.

The artist has been mostly self-taught which has allowed her the freedom to find her own way. Beginning as an oil painter, then a watercolorist, then into mixed media and finally into collage and abstract acrylic painting, she has evolved from a representational artist into an abstract expressionist. She is always open to the challenges of improvement, asking the question “what if” and experimenting with new methods and materials.

Because she believes that her art should be seen, she actively pursues outlets to show her work. These efforts have often led her to volunteer with artists’ organizations. The many friendships she has made through this involvement with other artists continue to provide critical examination, encouragement, and affirmation for her efforts. She also enjoys teaching others what she has learned either in small group mini-workshops or sessions at her studio.

Marti views art making as an expression of the soul. Whatever she puts on her paper or canvas is coming from somewhere within, not usually through visual stimuli, but often from feelings of conflict or contentment.

Artist Statement:

Collage is the avenue that most often expresses the ideas in my work. It is a medium that lends itself to abstraction and spontaneity. The elements of design such as color, line, texture, and shape are all key aspects of a good collage.

My goal in any work is to tell a story that is evocative or mysterious and draws the viewer to find a meaning that is personal to them. The art expresses something of myself but is most successful when it makes that connection with the viewer. Beginning with a square substrate of either paper or board and papers with added colors or textures of my own creation, a collage begins to take form.

By arranging shapes on the surface and moving them about until a pleasing design is accomplished, a final art piece comes to life. Using acrylic mediums I attach the papers to the substrate. Then acrylic paint or ink, line work and some small dots of color are added to complete the collage.  Marti’s website: www.artbymartiwhite.com
