Light Space & Time Online Art Gallery is very pleased to announce that Ilene Silberstein has been selected as one of the four winning artists of the gallery’s recent 17th “Solo Art Series” Art Competition. Ilene will now have a month-long solo art exhibition and she will be featured on the gallery’s front page, on the Gallery’s YouTube Channel, as well as in the “Solo Art Series” archive.
Ilene is an award-winning artist based in New York City, NY, USA. She will now be promoted by the gallery with an extensive public relations campaign.
For this solo exhibition, the gallery will distribute, promote and circulate press releases to over 550+ major News Outlets, including Premium FOX, CBS, and NBC Affiliated Sites, with guaranteed inclusion on Google News & Bing News. The Gallery will also provide social media distribution through LST gallery’s broad social media network.
In addition, as part of her award package, Ilene will now be featured as a Light Space & Time – Artwork Archive promoted artist.

The “Solo Art Series” is a series of monthly solo art exhibitions for established artists who have a body of work to present to the public. Artist participants were asked to submit the following 3 components for the “Solo Art Series” competition: 1. Their art. 2. Their artist biography. 3. Their artist statement. These elements were evaluated and judged, which resulted in the selection of the artists who will be featured in individual month-long solo art exhibitions. This was the 17th “Solo Art Series” Art Competition that the gallery has conducted.

Artist Biography
Ilene Silberstein attended Fashion Institute of Technology, receiving a AS degree in Fashion Design. After 10 years of designing clothes for various companies she left to raise a family and complete a BS degree in Visual Arts at SUNY College at Old Westbury. At the same time, she was also actively working at a flower design shop, Branching Out in Port Washington.
In 2009, she became Co-President of The Art Guild, located in Manhasset, New York, serving the greater New York with classes, workshops and gallery opportunities. The Art Guild has over 300 members.
Flowers, gardening, nature and crafts have always appealed to Ilene. She has abundant gratitude for a calming unspoiled outdoor location. Her natural inclination is to paint moments where light is the main attraction. She wants to emphasize the energy created by the shadows and the glow of the highlights. She uses Color to create vitality and vibration and her work tends to focus on organics, figures, the trappings of life and nature.
Ilene sometimes thinks her work should be more socially critical, but she paints what she is drawn to. She paints what makes her excited, so she continues to return to similar themes.
Ilene works in pastel, oil and mosaic and has studied with the late Anthony Palombo, Howard Rose, Christine LaFuente, Greg Kruetz and Shelli Robiner-Ardizzone, Jackie Kamin and Robert A. Johnson.
She has exhibited at The Art Guild, The Graphic Eye Gallery, The Atelier at Flowerfield, Suburban Art League and the National Art League.
Artist Statement
I love to paint from life - still life or landscape. I was a florist for many years, I had the luxury of being around the beautiful colors, shapes and scents of the fresh flowers as well all the matter we used to create the arrangements which is my inspiration. Many of the flowers I paint are taken from my garden.
My painting substrate preference is oil on board because I like the way the paint glides across the surface. It is hard for me to start but the anticipation of setting up a still life and what will come of it is a thrill. And I keep coming back to it over and over again.
