Light Space & Time Online Art Gallery is very pleased to announce that Doina Iacob has been selected as one of the four winning artists of the gallery’s recent 16th “Solo Art Series” Art Competition. Doina will now have a month-long solo art exhibition and she will be featured on the gallery’s front page, on the Gallery’s YouTube Channel, as well as in the “Solo Art Series” archive.
Doina is an award-winning artist based in Illinois, USA. She will now be promoted by the gallery with an extensive public relations campaign.
For this solo exhibition, the gallery will distribute, promote and circulate press releases to over 550+ major News Outlets, including Premium FOX, CBS, and NBC Affiliated Sites, with guaranteed inclusion on Google News & Bing News. The Gallery will also provide social media distribution through LST gallery’s broad social media network.
In addition, as part of her award package, Doina will now be featured as a Light Space & Time – Artwork Archive promoted artist.

The “Solo Art Series” is a series of monthly solo art exhibitions for established artists who have a body of work to present to the public. Artist participants were asked to submit the following 3 components for the “Solo Art Series” competition: 1. Their art. 2. Their artist biography. 3. Their artist statement. These elements were evaluated and judged, which resulted in the selection of the artists who will be featured in individual month-long solo art exhibitions. This was the 16th “Solo Art Series” Art Competition that the gallery has conducted.

Artist Biography
Doina was born in 1971, in a provincial town in Romania. Manifesting interest in drawing since she was little, she spent her childhood drawing on absolutely everything that came in contact with her hand, from paper sheets to furniture, books, asphalt, even doll faces. After high school, Doina chose to follow her passion and committed as a painter decorator using a technique almost forgotten today and extremely complicated (Daum Nancy and Galle), some sort of reverse painting on multiple layers of glass. She worked in this field for almost 10 years, while also drawing cartoons and caricatures for a Hungarian company and comic strips for a local newspaper.
At the age of 33, she emigrated to the United States where she settled with her family, only a few miles away from Chicago. The self-taught artist always disliked doing what others do, meaning imitating nature to the perfection of a photograph, whether it is a landscape, a plant, or a human figure. In recent years, with easy access to materials and relatively cheap advertising, almost everyone paints and defines himself as an "artist". Doina was always been reluctant to classify herself in this way, for two reasons: first, because she believes that a true artist of today brings an original addition to the art world and can also dedicate all his time to the creative process, the second reason being that she is never satisfied with the results of her work. In many ways and many times, this was a shortcoming but it also motivated her not to stop from the process of discovering herself. Doina believes that the moment she gets to be fully satisfied with her work will mean the end of her evolution as an aspiring artist.
Over the years she had tried several styles and, for short periods, she found herself in each of them, as you try a new coat, you like it much, but you cannot wear it for an infinite time. Therefore, she changed them, the styles, and she noticed that she always gravitated more around the stories aroused by the imagination. Whether it was about digital drawings, acrylics, or alcohol inks, she decided to express her ideas without the constraints of the classical painting, and with all the freedom that the imagination gives to her, the only real freedom she thinks she will ever experience as a human being.
Artist Statement
The goal of my work is to use color, texture, and form to create a visually stimulating image. I also use it as an opportunity to explore spontaneity and chance. Most of my inspiration for abstract painting comes from how I feel. Color and shape play a major part in my paintings. They assist me in communicating the story I am trying to tell. When they are all brought together within the painting, it becomes a journey of communication between you, as a viewer and me, the painter. My messages do not have a precise location in time and/or space. I use images with symbolic twists and turns embedded with elements from the mineral world, plants, and celestial world. Most of the time my paintings tell more than one story. The images are interposed, interlaced, or dissolved in one another much like memories. Each painting is filled with layer upon layer of paint or, lately, alcohol inks or even digital paint, building a rich history into each piece. The “Imaginarium” series appeared with the turmoil of 2020, when, once again, I realized how fragile we are in composition, how easily we can return to the ashes from which we were originally built. We root ourselves in the holy land and twist our DNA to the gates of Heaven in an ascent that sometimes goes light, smooth, or sometimes it becomes heavy, twisted but which, in the end, defines our own life, our own purpose.
