The Overall Winning Artists Category consists of the 10 Best Entries received from the 3 media categories of the Painting & Other Category, Photography & Digital Category and the 3 Dimensional Art categories.
The winning artists will now be featured on the Light Space & Time website for the month of June 2021 and thereafter, the artworks and links to the artist’s websites will remain online in the Light Space & Time Archives.
The overall winning artists’ category of the 11th Annual "Animals" Art Exhibition will receive extensive worldwide publicity and promotion. In addition, the overall winning artists will also receive extensive worldwide publicity in the form of email marketing, 550+ press release announcements, event announcement posts and social media marketing.
Winning artists will also have their art exhibition results posted and promoted on ArtJobs/ArtWeek. Artweek/Artjobs produces 800,000 page impressions per month, 280,000 website visitors per month and has 30,000 newsletter subscribers.

1st Place – Overall - Kaz Turner - "Rise to the Bait”
Since a very young age, visual art has always been of great interest. Kaz began to paint and illustrate from a very early age and continued to do so as a hobby. Kaz pursued an artistic career for a short while, although circumstance led her to a change in career.
Eventually after a long break, she returned to the art world and enrolled onto a part time class at a local college. This transition intensified her eagerness to create a personal style of decorative imagery; consequently, this progressed to the foundation course in Art and Design. It was here her drawing strengths were apparent and subsequently Kaz went on to gain a BA Hons in Illustration for Children’s Publishing at Glyndwr University Wales where she experimented with a plethora of materials, and found the amazing result pastels could produce when creating a design.
As a professional wildlife artist not only does Kaz have an avid interest in animals and their welfare but her love the natural world has been the inspiration to create realistic works of art. Her aim is to capture the spirit and character of the animals she paints, paying particular attention to the assiduous detail, their energy and form. Her portraits are a true representation capturing a pet's personality.
Kaz also offers one to one tuition, at her home studio in which she enjoys helping others to improve their own painting skills. All age groups are catered to, from beginners to advanced. Commissions for pet portraits are always welcome. As a consequence, she considers it an honour and a pleasure to illustrate nature and animals in art.

2nd Place – Overall - Xiaoxing Hu – “The Duel”
Xiao Xing Hu was born 1951 and raised in a traditional household in Kunming, China. He is a graduate of the Yunnan Art University of Art & Exterior Design, China. He is an internationally recognized artist known for creating terrific watercolor paintings from his unique perspective on life.
His two paintings, “Nepal Men” and “Plaid Scarf”, have won first place and “Masters Award” in the National Watercolor Society, U.S. exhibitions in 2013.
Xiao Xing Hu has always been fascinated by art, and never stops pursuing his passion with watercolor. In addition to watercolors, he has been explored in other mediums, including oils, acrylic and sculpture.
He is Director of the Watercolor Arts Committee of Yunnan, China Artists Association, and President of the Kunming, China Painting Association. Signature member of the National Watercolor Society and American Watercolor Society in the U.S.

My passion is photographing animals. Sadly, Covid issues have restricted some photographic opportunities. But it is also a wonderful time to rediscover gems in my photo archives that have been overlooked or put aside for the future. Well the future is now and the joy remains.

4th Place – Overall - Mehmet Akif Özdal - "Noble”
He was born in Sivas / Merkez in 2000. Be began painting in secondary school and exhibited a natural proficiency for the craft. After high school, he wanted to continue his line in the field of painting and 2018 enrolled in Sivas Cumhuriyet University. In addition to his traditional education, h wanted to gain different perspectives and studied web design and coding and eventually began creating digital based art. He continues his art education as he continues to create.

5th Place – Overall – Ros Beck - "Bubble n Ice”
Ros Beck has painted horses since she was a child. Her passion for horses had been with her for all of her 62 years. Born in Christchurch, New Zealand she always had horses in her life so it is no surprise that they feature strongly in her art.
Six years ago, she discovered acrylic pouring and has perfected through trial and error, her own technique and recipes, creating one off unique works of art.
"Acrylic pouring is so exciting with its unpredictable nature, I'm always experimenting and enthralled with the intense colors and effects I get!"
She pours into her pencil drawing then tilts the canvas and uses a little trowel to "swipe" thru the layers of paint to create cells! Then when dry she painted in the finer details of eyes etc.
Her love of hounds has also featured in her work many based on her own retired racing greyhound Zara and whippet Louie.
Her work is to be found around the world with private collectors and more lately in a New York equine gallery.

6th Place – Overall - Kaihua Shi – “Dignified Survival-jump”
I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Sculpture from the School of Fine Arts, Northeast Normal University. It has been 6 years and I have created sculptures in various media – clay, stone, wood, metal and ceramic. At the beginning of 2020, due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, my creation gradually changed from shelf sculpture to digital sculpture. Since the outbreak of the epidemic, the topic of "life" has received unprecedented attention. In the past two years, most of my creative themes have revolved around "life". Whether people, animals or plants, they all have their own lives. I hope that my works will interact and resonate with viewers, and I hope that my works have certain enlightening significance.

7th Place – Overall - Jill Corless – “Puckered Pigeons”
Jill was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. From a young age, she was always happiest while drawing and creating. Her homework was usually covered in doodles and flowers, which luckily most of the teachers allowed as long as the homework was complete and hopefully legible. All the way through High School art continued to be her favorite subject. She graduated from the Ontario College of Art with a four-year degree in Communication and Design but considers her Fine Art self-taught.
She stopped painting entirely in 1984 and always felt she had lost a large piece of herself without it. After living and working as an Art Director in Toronto, Ontario and Vancouver, British Columbia she and her husband moved their small son and infant daughter to Baltimore, Maryland where Jill became a full-time mother.
Then ten years later the family moved to Louisville, Kentucky. It wasn’t until September of 2017 when she walked into a Gallery in Charleston South Carolina with a dear friend that the creative muse finally came back to her. While chatting with one of the gallery owners the owner suddenly said, “You’re back! I can see it in your eyes. I have never seen anyone’s face light up so much as when you started talking about art. Go home and paint!”
In October, Jill did just that. She started with colored pencils and then made the switch over to pastels and now also works in oils. In April 2018, she paid a surprise visit to her new mentor at the Charleston gallery to show her just what she had unleashed and was offered a contract by two of the owners. That June Jill was juried into the gallery and has been there ever since.
In March 2020, Jill was accepted into a gallery in St Petersburg, Florida where as of September 2020, she and her husband had taken up permanent residence on the water in their second home. It was like the flood gates had opened and there was a lot of lost time to make up for.
Jill tries to use her art when possible to bring much needed attention to subjects that pull at her heart. She loves to use bright warm palates and dramatic lighting to enhance her work. Painting people and animals are her passion. It is the eyes. Even when she was a young artist people were drawn to the eyes in her work and it is still what she is known for now. She is fascinated with just how much you can learn about an animal or person just by looking into their eyes. The eyes are truly the window to the soul. They do not lie. They tell joy, sadness, fear - it is all there to be seen if you look deeply enough. Jill always starts her paintings with the eyes. She says if you can’t get the eyes right the entire soul of the painting is lost and Jill paints to find the soul.

Creating a still life with a narrative and adding a bit of my personality are my intentions for each new art piece. Each of my paintings are inspired with an idea. The process of developing that vision and turning a blank canvas into what I have envisioned is truly my inspiration.

9th Place – Overall - Jim Bob Swafford - "Grazing the High Meadows”
Jim Bob was born in 1940 in Decatur, Texas the county seat of Wise. Jim Bob grew up as an oil field brat, as his dad followed the oil boomtown jobs in the mid 1940’s. In the late 40’s and into his teen years, Jim Bob spent his time tending to the small family farm in Ropes, Texas.
Jim Bob was the oldest of three boys and tended to most of the chores, like chopping cotton, tending livestock, milking, planting, and harvesting. He was both a member of the 4H and FFA (Future Farmers of America). The drought in the mid 50’s caused the family to sell the farm and move to San Angelo, Texas. For the first time Jim Bob attended a high school with an art department. It was an eye-opener to a talent he felt was always inside him.
His first art award was at graduation from high school in San Angelo, Texas he was honored as the Art Student of the year. Other awards followed throughout Jim Bob’s career. His proudest art association is being one of the “Leanin’ Tree” artists. Leanin’ Tree, Inc. is in Boulder, Colorado.
Jim Bob artwork has been featured in “Western Horseman” magazine as well as featured on the cover of the “Rocky Mountain Rider” magazine. Invitational art shows include “Artist of the West” in Colorado Springs, Colorado and “Artist West of the Concho” in San Angelo, Texas. National exhibit includes “Top 100 exhibit Arts for the Parks” in Jackson Hole, Wyoming and “Images of American” the Nations Calendar.
Swafford studied art at Lubbock Christian University and Abilene Christian University and graduated with a BA degree with a major in art. After a successful career in business and extensive travel Swafford became aware of the individual art styles of each area of the country and how they were influenced by climate, quality of light, attitudes, and lifestyles. He has absorbed into his own style elements of what he sees as unique to the south and west of the country.
Over time, Jim Bob’s style has moved towards stronger use of color and on emphasis on the essence of his subject matter. He paints southwest, landscapes, western lifestyle, cowboy life, wildlife, and floral. Currently Jim Bob is the founder and CEO of Scandia Wind Southwest LLC based in Bovina, Texas. Scandia Wind is developing the “Mariah Wind Farm” project. Jim Bob and his wife Kay live in the small rural town of Bovina, Texas the old headquarters of the XIT ranch.

10th Place – Overall - ChaCha – “Heron Liftoff”
I live in the beautiful state-of-the-art Colorado. As an artist and photographer, I am a witness to the beauty around me and it inspires me. Using my camera, I photograph my composition and play with it in several different digital photo apps. Then I print them on canvas. Sometimes I add paint to highlight areas of interest. I’ve been active in the Boulder, Colorado art scene since the early 1980s. I’ve worked in over 13 different types of art mediums. Digital photo manipulation is my newest passion.
